Telephone companies are improving on the wavelength division multiplexing technique, which can radically improve optic fiber capacity. However, the companies will have to develop other uses for high-bandwidth service if they want to remain competitive.

Taming tremor: a pacemaker for the brain nears approval

Article Abstract:

A neural pacemaker that sends electrical impulses to the thalamus was developed to reduce uncontrolled shaking due to essential tremor. The implant improves neuromuscular control by emitting low-voltage impulses.
