Biodiversity up in smoke?

Article Abstract:

Wildfires could be reduced by controlling encroachments in forests and proper urban planning, thus preserving the biodiversity. An experiment is being conducted in Jervis Bay, in Australia that will monitor the dynamics of mammals, birds and reptiles and record their responses to different fire regimes, also experiments have been performed for determining the right method of doing hazard reduction burning, which will protect the property and biodiversity.

Annual conference draws record crowd

Article Abstract:

The Annual Conference of Earthwatch, which was held in November 2003, in Cambridge, Massachusetts highlighted its contributions towards a sustainable environment by involving people from different fields in field science. The Conference attracted 350 participants and consisted of presentations and posters of ninety-five researchers from twenty countries who were supported by Earthwatch.

Hope Winslow wants to create a new path that will teach alternative hands-on earth science education, which can then be passed on to her students.
