Selenium stable isotope ratios as indicators of sources and cycling of selenium: results from the northern reach of San Francisco Bay

Article Abstract:

Researchers from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, U.S. Geological Survey and University of Illinois studied ratios of selenium stable isotopes found from samples taken at the San Francisco Bay Estuary to investigate the dynamics and anthropogenic inputs of selenium.

Reaction-based model describing competitive sorption and transport of Cd, Zn, and Ni in acidic soil

Article Abstract:

This study was used to examine Cd adsorption to an acidic soil material over a vast concentration range with various background electrolytes. The article is broken down into an introduction, a discussion of the experiment and a discussion of the results. Various tables and graphs accompany the article.

Bituminous roof sealing membranes as major sources of the herbicide (R,S)-mecoprop in roof runoff waters: potential contamination of groundwater and surface waters

Article Abstract:

Runoff from roofs treated with the protection agent Preventol B 2 is a major source of (R,S)-mecoprop contamination in surface water and groundwater contamination. The factors determining the herbicide's release are the biological activity, the type of bituminous sheet, and the intensivity of rooftop greening that is applied. Construction materials that include Preventol B 2 is also a major source of the (R,S)-mecoprop contamination from wastewater treatment plants
