Concurrent engineering reduces time to market for business jet

Article Abstract:

Five private organizations formed a multi-national work group to design and construct the first Learjet 45. The group utilized modern 3-D CAD technology and IT connections between Belfast, Toronto, Wichita, Isle of Man and Preston to establish a collaborative working environment. Shorts designed and manufactured the entire fuselage to the Learjet production line in Wichita, KS and selected Innovative Business Solutions (INBIS) to design the rear fuselage section. INBIS' production of outline designs for all major parts were created by 3-D solid CAD models which provided the basis for full electronic mock-up.

New generation spin doctors

Article Abstract:

US semiconductor equipment company Applied Materials (AMAT) was required by the ion implant division to design an assembly with a 13-paddle wheel rotating in a vacuum chamber with an automated loading mechanism which could batch implant 300 mm diameter by 75 mm thick silicon wafers. Innovative Business Solutions (INBIS) supplied a new generation of highly-specialized machinery to be used in AMAT's production of silicon-based micro circuits. INBIS then used Finite Element analysis to examine stresses and loads and to evaluate interaction between the mechanisms.

Putting turbines to the test

Article Abstract:

Innovative Business Solutions (INBIS) helped BMW Rolls-Royce develop the major concepts and specifications for a compressor technology module and test facility during the planning of the BR710 engine for the Gulfstream V and Global Express aircraft. INBIS organized a team of 32 design and analytical engineers to work in the project. INBIS used modern engineering techniques such as electronic prototyping for major areas including rotor disc profiles. Thus, the test module was successfully completed in time for the development program.
