Considerations of phase transformations in the study of shear bands in a dynamically loaded steel block

Article Abstract:

The strain thermomechanical deformations of a dynamically loaded steel block are studied. A fixed set of rectangular Cartesian coordinates is used to express the block's important parameters, such as the stress tensor, mass density and specific energy. This equation is then solved by means of the Galerkin approximation technique. Results reveal that shear bands of intense plastic deformations occur at an angle of 45 degrees with the horizontal axis.

Analysis for cold die compaction of stainless-steel powder

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the 316L stainless steel powder that is subjected to single and double action die pressing to determine its densification behavior and the effect of friction between powders. Finite element method was used to calculate the density distribution of the powder during compression. Results have shown that different density distributions become similar when uniaxially compressed.

The effect of transverse shear on the postbuckling and growth characteristics of delaminations in composites

Article Abstract:

Results show that transverse shear affects the displacement profiles, promotes growth with release of energy. Data indicate that the latter effect is seen in postbuckling regime.
