Continuous improvement and inter-project learning in new product development

Article Abstract:

New product development (NPD) can foster continuous improvement and learning by providing resources to assess the project, disseminating improvements in the whole organization, and adopting pattern-identifying schemes. The NPD scheme requires that learning and innovation be strategically managed in that aside from the immediate gains, they must also be employed to improve product capacity. This strategy avoids barriers to NPD such as context- specificity and misapplication of developmental experience.
