Control of the actin cytoskeleton in plant cell growth

Article Abstract:

Various experiments that have identified the functions of actin during plant cell growth and description of the genetic and biochemical evidence for the role of plant actin-binding proteins (ABPs) in coordinating with actin formation to get cell expansion is discussed. From the studies of animal signaling pathways of the cytoskeleton show that ABP control is many times dependent on multiple pathways that have extensive cross talk and self-regulation.

Laser microdissection of plant tissue: What you see is what you get

Article Abstract:

Laser microdissection (LM) utilizes a cutting or harvesting laser to isolate specific cells from histological sections, providing a means of removing selected cells from complex tissues, based only on their identification by microscopic appearance, location or staining properties. Plant cells isolated by LM are the starting point for a variety of genomic and metabolite studies of specific cell types.

Shoot branching

Article Abstract:

Plants shoots can be described as a series of developmental modules termed as phytomers, which are produced from, shoot apical meristems. The phytomer concept provides a useful framework to analysis shoot structure in diverse species and to characterize mutant phenotypes.
