Crossing the narrows

Article Abstract:

The construction of the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge, the third suspension bridge in the area, is discussed. The bridge is one of the first to use the design/build delivery method and was tested using two complete, side-by-side bridge models. The new bridge will carry eastbound traffic, while the adjacent bridge, built in 1950, will carry westbound traffic.
