Article Abstract:

Taisei Corp. has developed a new tunnel boring equipment capable of digging both a vertical access shaft and a horizontal tunnel. The contraption achieves this by rotating 90 degrees once the desired depth is reached and then releasing an inner cutting head which bores horizontally.
