Detecting leaks in geomembranes

Article Abstract:

The Southwest Research Institute, San Antonio, has developed an electrical leak location method which detects and locates leaks in geomembrane liners. The method, offered through Leak Location Services Inc, San Antonio, is useful in testing wastewater storage ponds at sewage treatment facilities, concrete vaults used for solid waste storage, landfills and above ground steel tanks that store dangerous materials. It is necessary to electrically isolate electrical conductors such as steel piping piers, battens and fasteners. Gundle Lining Systems Inc, Houston, has developed a linear leak detection system that has an electrical conductive leak detection layer.
