Did birds sail through the K-T extinction with flying colors?

Article Abstract:

Research based on molecular and fossil data indicates that at least 21 different bird lineages survived the devastation that killed off the dinosaurs at the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary. This contradicts the previous view that almost all bird species died out.
