Digital TV turns on

Article Abstract:

Digital television (DTV) services will debut in the 12 largest US cities on Nov 1, 1998. DTV offers picture and sound quality that can only be experienced in movie theaters. However, DTV sets costs thousands of dollars while roof- or set-top antennas are needed to receive DTV signals.

Digital for big dishes

Article Abstract:

NextLevel Systems announces its new product, the 4DTV receiver. It is capable of handling both digital and analog transmissions from C- and Kuband satellites. Hence, it will allow the owner to have access to at least 500 TV channels. The system is compatible with existing antennas.
