Dynamic response of Epon 828/T-403 under multiaxial loading at various temperatures

Article Abstract:

An Epon 828/T-403 expoxy was tested to determine its mechanical response and failure behaviour under strain rates, and temperature ranges of -190 to 100 deg C. The experiment was based on a modified split Hopkinson pressure bar, with a Materials Tests System used to undertake tests to determine the trends in strain-rate sensitivity. The yield strength of the polymer was found to increase with increasing strain rate, after which adiabatic heating offsets the strain rate hardening.

One-dimensional dynamic compressive behavior of EPDM rubber

Article Abstract:

Dynamic compressive stress-strain curves at various strain rates of an Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Monomer Copolymer (EPDM) rubber are determined with a modified split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). A one-dimensional dynamic constitutive equation for this rubber was modified to describe the high strain rate experimental results within ranges of strain and strain rates.

Dynamic compressive behavior of EPDM rubber under nearly uniaxial stain conditions

Article Abstract:

Dynamic compressive experiments were conducted on EPDM rubber with a pulse-shaped SHPB and a snug-fit aluminum sleeve installed on the lateral surfaces of rubber specimens, under nearly uniaxial strain conditions. The phenomenological model developed is not general in nature.
