Effects of scheduled overtime on labor productivity

Article Abstract:

Literature on how scheduled overtime affects labor productivity in the construction industry is reviewed. The purpose of the review is to verify if existing overtime data are correct. Results of the review showed that data on overtime were very limited and were gathered from unreliable sources. The data on low efficiency levels as related to the number of manhours gave unrealistic conclusions. This means that efficiency can not be associated with the number of manhours and that existing data are found to be defective.
