Environmental projects garner academy's awards

Article Abstract:

The American Academy of Environmental Engineers cited the valuable contributions of engineering firms to the industry. CH2M Hill, VA won an award for its cost-effective and novel scheme of combining usual sewage treatment methods with a new biological nutrient-removal system. Other major awardees include Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. for its computerized system of analyzing cadmium content in various soil conditions to facilitate its decontamination and the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation for its program which maintains the high effluent quality of the Hyperion Treatment Plant's discharge.

AGC presents 20th annual Build America Awards

Article Abstract:

Among the recipients of the Build America Awards given at the Associated General Contractors of America convention in Dallas, TX, were the firms George Hyman Construction Co, Pepper Construction Co, McCarthy, Kasler Corp, Cianbro Corp and K.G. Walters Construction Company Inc. The winners of the 20th annual Build America Awards for projects completed in 1991 were awarded for the categories in building renovation, new building, heavy/industrial, new highway, highway renovation and municipal utilities.

US DOT awards $1.6 bil in credit assistance packages
