European Ministers Back Commerce Over Space Science

Article Abstract:

The European Space Agency decided to put a cap on scientific spending and to focus on the commercial use of space at a meeting held in May, 1999. The European ministers who attended the meeting were presented with a list of programs totaling $6.4 billion dollars from which to choose from.

A road map for U.S. carbon reductions

Article Abstract:

A recent study for the Dept of Energy provides guidelines for reducing US carbon emissions in accord with the global treated reached in Kyoto, Japan. Energy efficiency and emissions goals for utilities, industry, buildings, and transportation are discussed.
