Firms propose privately financed freeway from Dallas to San Antonio

Article Abstract:

The Texas Transportation Commission selected a consortium led by Cintra Concesiones de infrastructuras de Transporte, of Madrid, and the Zachry Construction Corporation, of San Antonia, to design, build, and operate a toll road stretching from Dallas to San Antonio. To be owned by the state, the toll toad between Dallas and San Antonio is expected to be operated and maintained by the private consortium as a part of a 50-year lease.

Louisiana constructing 17-mile-long elevated highway

Article Abstract:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation Development is planning to build a 17 mi (27 km) long elevated highway above the sensitive coastal wetlands to overcome the problem of flooding. The estimated cost of the project is 525 million dollars and the construction will begin in the fourth quarter of the year 2004 in phases, depending on the availability of funds.

A high five for Dallas

Article Abstract:

A detailed report is presented on the five-level highway interchange construction in Dallas that is expected to be completed by end of year 2005 which will be 12 months ahead of schedule. The interchange is aimed to improve traffic flow and to reduce emissions by letting the vehicles travel at a high speeds with fewer interruptions.
