Big apple prepares for new subway line

Article Abstract:

New York City Transit, an agency of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), is managing a $16.8-billion subway project that will add 16 underground stations as part of a line that will run the entire length of Manhattan in an effort to relieve overcrowded train lines and improve transportation for the city's several million riders. The project design aims to reduce energy costs and use environmentally friendly materials.

Restoring PATH

Article Abstract:

This article describes the restoration efforts that are underway to restore the subway service between northern New Jersey to lower Manhattan, which was damaged during Septembe 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The subway construction involves extensive tunneling, railway, and structural rehabilitation. It also includes a temporary Port Authority Trans-Hudson station at Ground Zero.

Rail station roof evokes Wuhan legend

Article Abstract:

The design of the new railway station of the Chinese city of Wuhan is described. The incorporation of the design of the legendary flying yellow crane, in the design of the rail station, is discussed.
