Facilities and methods for the high-throughput crystal structural analysis of human proteins

Article Abstract:

This article describes the Protein Structure Factory, a Berlin-area structural genomics facility in Germany and the methodologies employed to isolate, purify, and characterize recombinant human proteins on a large scale. Affinity purified proteins are subjected to high-throughput crystallization process in a robotic station followed by X-ray diffraction studies in a synchrotron facility.

Medium-scale structural genomics: strategies for protein expression and crystallization

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the set-up of a medium-throughput structural genomics laboratory facility. Data are presented from two projects to show that the set-up works. The strategy involves developing sequential and iterative methodologies coupled with technical processes for carrying out expression, crystallization, and structural characterization of proteins.

High-throughput crystallography at an affordable cost: the TB structural genomics consortium crystallization facility

Article Abstract:

This article describes the TB Structural Genomics Consortium crystallization facility, sponsered by the National Institutes of Health, for genomics research. The facility, shared by academic and national laboratories provides its members with automated crystallization, data collection, and structure solution on a small budet.
