Budget threats force policy reversal

Article Abstract:

San Jose State Univ and CSU-Sacramento dropped plans to remove Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and military recruitment programs from campus, due to recent laws which would deprive them of millions of dollars in US funds. The schools had objected to US policies against gays in the military.

Is it time to begin Ph.D. population control?

Article Abstract:

The scientific community is debating whether the number of Ph.D.s being produced is too great for the market to bear, or whether growth in areas other than traditional research can accommodate the number of graduates. Both sides agree that better research about the Ph.D job market is needed.
