Wake-up call for sleep research

The National Commission on Sleep Disorders Research wants a new sleep research institute that would fall under the aegis of the National Institutes of Health. The Commission estimates that sleep problems cost society about $50 billion a year.

Paleontologists are outraged by the sale of rare human fossils on an Internet site called Fossilnet. They believe that sales to private collectors are a loss to science and warn that the fossils may not be authentic.
