Flood protection: corps approves Devils Lake diversion
Article Abstract:
The water level of Devils Lake, in northeastern North Dakota, has risen by more than 25 ft in the past decade, as Devil Lake receives rainfall and glacial runoff and has no natural outlet. In 2003, the Congress appropriated the federal share of the estimated $180 million project, which aims at pumping water from the west side of the lake through a 22 mi line with a design capacity of 300 cfs.

'Roof blades' distinguish Colorado Convention Center
Article Abstract:
A description of the $285-million expansion of the Colorado Convention Center, designed by Denver-based Fentress Bradburn Architects, is given. The most distinguishing feature is the dramatic steel 'roof blades' cantilevering as much as 110 ft (33.5m) over glass curtain walls.
