For your eyes only? "Strong crypto" puts federal controls under pressure

The US is under pressure to relax export controls on encryption devices as stronger devices and software become available. Japanese communications firm NTT has a chip that is more powerful than US-exported chips as a result of obtaining rights to RSA Data Security encryption.

Working under pressure

Article Abstract:

Oligonucleotides under slight pressure from higher blood pressure can make grafted veins hardier. Research at Harvard Medical School and Stanford University School of Medicine say the oligo E2F molecule inhibits another immunity gene, slowing vein transplant rejection.

Making antisense: drugs that turn off genes are entering human tests

Article Abstract:

Antisense compounds are created with recombinant DNA, and may inhibit chromosomal mutations that cause cancers and other diseases. Human trials of a compound to inhibit chromosomal mutations that cause chronic myelogenous leukemia will occur in 1992.
