Formation of hydrogen cyanide over Cu/ZSM-5 catalyst used for the removal of nitrogen oxides from exhausts of lean-burn engines

Article Abstract:

A method for forming hydrogen cyanide by adding water during the selective catalytic reduction of Cu/ZSM-5 was developed to remove harmful nitrogen oxides from the exhaust of combustion engines. Hydrogen cyanide formation continued despite the presence of water, suggesting that addition of water does not contribute to the reduction of nitrogen oxide. However, the results suggest that zeolite and oxide catalysts may be suitable in removing nitrogen oxide from harmful exhausts.

Photocatalytic degradation of carbonyl in aqueous solutions containing TiO2 suspensions

Article Abstract:

A suspension of TiO2 particles served as a catalytic agent in the transformation of carbonyl through photocatalytic degradation processes. The mechanism of the transformation appears to involve several steps that include compounds such as the OH radical. The end products of the transformation were ammonium and nitrate ions.
