Genetically challenged: An innovative approach to save Fundy's unique salmon

Article Abstract:

The Inner Bay of Fundy Atlantic salmon, distinctive for their genetic makeup and limited migration range, are on the cusp of extinction. The Atlantic salmon produce thousands of tiny offspring, too small and numerous to tag, and so pedigrees have to be maintained using DNA fingerprinting techniques, thus aiming to produce genetically diverse offspring for restocking the rivers of origin.
