Glacial climate in the tropics

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that the tropics were cooler during Pleistocene glaciations than is generally believed. Research based on strontium-calcium ratios in corals indicates that the tropics may have cooled as much as 5 degrees Celsius, compared to 1 to -1 degrees C. suggested by earlier studies.

A high glacier opens a view of the Ice Age tropics

Article Abstract:

Two ice cores retrieved from a glacier in the Peruvian Andes reveal that the climate in the tropics during the last ice age did get cooler, contrary to common belief. The climate in the tropics changed abruptly toward the end of the ice age just as it did in northern areas.
