Great Zimbabwe is a large and lovely archaeological site that bears witness to the presence of a prospering city that is renowned throughout southern Africa for its rich trade and culture between the 12th and 17th century. The ruins stand on the Zimbabwe plateau.

The great radium scandal

Article Abstract:

William John Aloysius Bailey's Bailey Radium Laboratory produced a patent medicine called Radithor, which was supposed to cure over 150 disorders. Eben M. Byers died from radium poisoning from the medicine, which he consumed between 1927 and 1931.

The great well of China

The Xinhai well in the Sichuan province of China was built in 1835 as a method of extracting brine to produce salt. This type of deep drilling is known as one of the leading innovations of ancient China.
