Growth in confidence

Article Abstract:

Delegates at the the 19th Annual Forecasting Seminar of the Machine Tool Trades Assn. were generally optimistic about the future of the machine tools industry. This optimism may be attributed to the perceived economic growth in 1996 and the perception that inflation is under control. Delegates expect a 26% increase in demand for 1995 compared to the previous year and a continuing increase of 18% over the next two years. The machine tools industry in the UK is likewise predicted to experience a growth of 17% to 20% in the next two years.

Article Abstract:

Product data management (PDM) software systems have continued to grow in size and importance since the early 1990s. PDM systems control product-related information such as engineering drawings, geometry, assembly diagrams, product specifications, analysis results and project plans. They do so by controlling five major user-directed functions. These include product structure management to handle product configurations and bills of material and document management and data vaulting for storage and retrieval of information.
