How Ford is building a communications superhighway

Article Abstract:

Ford of Europe Inc entered a partnership with Siemens in 1991 to develop a communications system which would cross international borders, allowing engineers and managers in Ford's diverse facilities to communicate with each other and with their customers. The system has reduced production and delivery time by cutting the layers of management most correspondence was required to pass through. Customer suggestions and ideas can be brought directly to the front lines of engineering and management. Suppliers and dealers can have problems dealt with more effectively.

Competitive and technology management strategy: a case study of TELCO

Article Abstract:

The long-term competitive and technology management strategy employed by Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO) has played a vital role in making the company the biggest commercial motor vehicle developer in India. TELCO has able to maintain its industrial competitiveness by undertaking a management strategy that promotes concurrent engineering, standardization and manufacturing and design integration. The company's technology management strategy also emphasizes a need for a comprehensive research and development, as well as organizational learning.

REVA Electric Car: A case study of innovation at RECC

India's first electric car, REWA, was developed and commercialized by REVA Electric Car Company (RECC), a joint venture of Maini Group in India and AEV LLC of California, USA. RECC has the potential to become global with its strong orientation towards research and development, technology planning and quality together with clearly defined vision, leadership in innovation and a quest for excellence.
