How far did the west wander?

Article Abstract:

Recent findings support geophysicists' contentions that parts of Canada's coast drifted from as far as Baja California, as opposed to geologists' consensus that the chunks traveled a few hundred kilometers at most. Jane Wynn's evidence from paleomagnetic analysis of Canadian rocks is described.

... But did deeper forces act to uplift the Andes?

Article Abstract:

Seismologist Paul Silver suggests that the Andes, unlike mountain ranges that were formed by colliding continents, are the result of a westward moving South America colliding with viscous mantle rock. Geophysicist Raymond Russo and Silver attribute the continent's movement to mantle flow.

Did a plate tectonic surge flood earth?

Article Abstract:

A new analysis of the geologic record indicates that plate motions rather than a superflume of molten rock rising from the ocean floor were responsible for the sea surges that flooded earth 100 million year ago.
