Hydrogen tunneling and protein motion in enzyme reactions

Article Abstract:

Theoretical perspectives on hydrogen transfer reactions in enzymes are presented where the proton-coupled electron transfer reaction catalyzed by soybean lipoxygenase and hydride transfer reaction catalyzed by dihydrofolate reductase are discussed. Theoretical studies indicated that hydrogen tunneling and protein motion play significant roles in both reactions.

Close encounters of the transient kind: protein interactions in the photosynthetic redox chain investigated by NMR spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Plastocyanin and cytochrome c6 function as electron shuttles between cytochrome f and photosystem I in the photosynthetic redox chain. General features and other details of the molecular interfaces found in the complexes, by the n uclear magnetic resonance studies, are revealed.

Microwave spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resoanance spectroscopy-what is the connection?

Article Abstract:

The history and development of microwave spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy have much in common. The increasingly important role of quantum-chemical calculations in the interpretation of the microwave and NMR data is discussed.
