Hydrogeochemical anomalies and the 1995 Kobe Earthquake

Article Abstract:

Hydrogeochemical data gathered before, during or after Japan's 1995 Kobe Earthquake revealed some anomalies that may eventually lead to the development of means for predicting earthquakes. Data from a ground-water radon monitor and information about changes in three wells are discussed.

Do big and little earthquakes start differently?

Article Abstract:

Physical precursors of earthquakes have proven elusive. Research has been lately focused on whether large and small earthquakes have different precursor movements. If larger earthquakes have a larger nulceation zone, then it may be possible to predict such quakes days ahead of time.

A search for earthquake precursors

Article Abstract:

Several papers presented at an international meeting in Tokyo, Japan substantiated the validity of hydrogeochemical signals as precursors of earthquake activity. Theoretical models and precursory data for earthquakes in China, California, and Kobe, Japan were presented.
