Immersed tube to link two continents

Article Abstract:

Bosporus, the strait that connects the Sea of Marmara to the Black Sea, is the narrow channel that divides the city of Istanbul and represents the geographical boundary between Europe and Asia. The Bosporus crossing will comprise a 1.8 km long immersed tube, 11.5 km of bores, cut-and-cover, and opencut sections, and four underground stations, which will link two continents.

Work resumes on Soviet-era flood barrier

Article Abstract:

The $460-million project to complete the St. Petersburg flood protection barrier, Russia, is undertaken by a team consisting of Halcrow, of London, DHV, of Amersfoort, the Netherlands, and Norplan, of Oslo, Norway. The design and construction of the flood barrier is discussed.
