Improbable particles - or artifacts?

Article Abstract:

CERN physicists have viewed 18 unexplainable events on the ALEPH detector, one of four detectors on the Large Electron Positron Collider, but not on any other detectors. Collisions of electrons and antimatter positrons repeatedly shown evidence of particles not predicted in any current physical model.

In search of the cleansing axon

Article Abstract:

Physicists hope two current experiments will detect the axion, a particle predicted by the Standard Model that may explain the unseen mass of the universe. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Univ of Kyoto are conducting experiments to detect axions that have transformed into photons.

Accelerator probes the private lives of nucleons

Article Abstract:

Researchers modified the Amsterdam Pulse Stretcher electron accelerator to produce a continuous beam of electron pulses and succeeded in dislodging pairs of protons from a nucleus. The experiment is an important step in the study of nuclear structure.
