Clematis virginiana, Canada's native clematis vine, is popular with gardeners. It is nicknamed 'Old Man's Beard', provides food for birds and insects, and is a source of medicines used by North American aboriginal peoples. Advice on growing the plant is presented.

Native water gardens can provide habitat for wildlife, including insects, amphibians, reptiles, and birds. Native American plants sustained by the water are vital for such a garden. Water gardens can be enhanced by following a few simple tips.

The duke of cukes: magnolia acuminata, the cucumber tree

Article Abstract:

Canada's cucumber trees are facing extinction due to agricultural cleaning. Also known as the magnolia acuminata, these trees can be easily grown from their seeds and the Ontario government is making serious efforts to conserve these trees.
