Industrialization and economic growth of India: interactions of indigenous and foreign technology

Article Abstract:

The need for India to undertake activities aimed at developing technological capabilities intensifies as the country liberalizes its economy. The introduction of liberalization and globalization process in India in 1991 has opened an opportunity to Indian business entities to innovate and commercialize their innovations in a timely and cost-effective ways so as to achieve and sustain competitiveness. It has also strengthened a need for the country to implement market-based programs that will promote technological change.

The use of information technology in high-growth Asian nations

Article Abstract:

The field of information technology has played a significant role in the economic development of high-growth Asian countries. Countries such as Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were able to become as competitive as First-World nations partly because of undertaking programs designed to develop and promote the use of information technology. One program being undertaken by such Asian countries is the promotion of education and vocational training involving Information Technology.

Japan's technology-import policies in the 1950s and 1960s: did they increase industrial competitiveness?

Article Abstract:

Technology-import policies undertaken by Japan during 1950s and 1960s proved to be highly effective in increasing the industrial competitiveness of the country. Technology-import policies implemented by Japan during 1950s and 1960s have resulted to increased diffusion of foreign technologies among Japanese companies. Such policies also greatly contributed in increasing the competitiveness of smaller Japanese firms by increasing their bargaining power.
