Networking for regional innovation and economic growth: The Brazilian Petropolis technopole

Article Abstract:

The analysis of a technopole program established in Petropolis, a city located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, and its genesis, development and networking activities and also, its impact on regional innovation and economic growth is concerned. The analysis is based on the documents and interviews conducted with members of the Management Committee of the Petropolis Technopole, with government officials at federal, state and municipal levels.

Article Abstract:

The municipalities' effort to build up pattern to adopt the policy of Sweden in the broadband Internet access for everybody varies to a large extent due to economic, geographical, social and cultural factors. Tranas, a country of Sweden was the first country to adopt the policy for introduction of broadband and Internet access for everybody and was successful in establishing network for everyone.
