Infrastructure: a nebulous and overworked construct?

Article Abstract:

The term 'information infrastructure' is in dire need of clarification since it is a term that is widely used but its current meaning is quite inadequate. The current construct omits such concepts as information stocks, organizational capital and human capital. It is very important to clarify concepts that directly affect the information industry since the sector of the economy is rapidly expanding and there is still no mechanism that adequately answers the need for its tracking.

Nations, institutions, and technological development

Article Abstract:

A careful analysis of the relationship between society and technological development reveals that the two are not competing factors in social development but are complementary. One argument regarding this topic is that technology forces society to adapt, thereby dictating the outcome. Another argument that is contrary to the first is that society dictates the nature of technological advancements.
