Inner workings of a transcription factor partnership

Article Abstract:

Combinatorial control of transcription is based upon partnerships between two proteins that belong to different groupings. Such combinations add stability and specificity to protein-DNA interactions. Findings on the interaction between GABP (alpha) and its heterotypic partner GABP (beta) are reported.

Small nucleolar RNAs guide ribosomal RNA methylation

Article Abstract:

Recent research reveals that small RNA species (snoRNAs) in the nucleolus act as guides for rRNA methylation. Pre-RNA molecules are paired with specific snoRNAs, which together target sites fort methylation and identify the nucleotide to be modified.
