Into the fourth dimension

Article Abstract:

A team of building contractors successfully collaborated using an integrated suite of three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) programs and design and project management software to conceptualize and construct a pilot plant for a pharmaceutical firm in California. The integration of these CAD technologies with cost and scheduling programs enabled the team to streamline the design/build process which resulted in fewer unanticipated problems during actual construction.

The benefits of virtual building tools

Article Abstract:

This article discusses utilization of virtual building tools in testing project design, organization, and schedule by the designers, builders, and owners before committing resources for the project. The computer software programs enable generating the layout and design details automatically and the fluid dynamics simulation help adopt suitable performance materials in the construction.

The cyanic threat

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the ways and means of combating cyanide poisoning by the environmental engineers in the event of terrorists contaminating drinking water supplies in the United States. The removal of cyanic compounds from water is dependent on the form of cyanide; water pH, temperature, and volume; and other contaminating chemicals, metals, and organic compounds.
