It came from the deep: scientists warn of outbreaks stemming from the ocean abyss

Article Abstract:

Marine scientists have discovered the presence of pathogenic microbes at extreme ocean depths that could lead to disease outbreaks. Although there have been no studies yet to prove an association between upwelling and epidemics, scientists believe that such a bleak scenario is not a remote possibility. The proliferation of the disease-causing microbes is attributed to the dumping of waste into the ocean.
