Job security is an oxymoron

Article Abstract:

Civil engineers can adopt several strategies to ensure job or career security in a changing world where advanced technology has increased productivity and replaced the need for personnel. The strategies include, protecting personal reputation through honesty and integrity, enhancing personal development through well-defined future plans, and development of skills and experience. The engineers should develop effective communication skills, make themselves financially secure, engage in a part-time business, and develop contacts with entrepreneurial and creative individuals.
