Keeping a cool head

Article Abstract:

Thermistors are efficient in vehicle engine management and motor protection system, and are more reliable than mechanical devices. Thermistors improve the engine coolant systems, have no hysteresis and retain their performance in numerous temperature cycles. Thermometrics Inc.'s positive temperature coefficient thermistors are used for measuring level and flow, motor protection and in vapour protection circuits. Customized and cost-effective designs can result from close partnership between the manufacturers and thermistor specialists.

Cool for cats?

Article Abstract:

European Commission legisaltions on exhaust emissions leaves the choice of technology up to the manufacturer, however, it assumes that the catalytic converter will take precedence over other technologies. Common Market countries have been permitted to offer financial incentives to encourage the use of the technology. Modern catalytic converters are known as three way, as they handle all three groups of gases.

Flexible friend

Article Abstract:

Superplastic zinc (SPZ) alloy lids containing zinc and aluminum at a 78% to 22% ratio have been incorporated into the Lucas EPIC diesel fuel injection system for diesel control units. The EPIC system overcomes constraints due to preset conditions used in normal diesel injection systems. The engine optimization factor, the practical advantages of SPZ shielding, enclosures and panels are discussed.
