General Domestic Appliances (GDA) makes many well-known household goods brands, including Hotpoint washing machines and Creda cookers. Recruiting designers is one of the company's top priorities in its aim to create greater consumer satisfaction and easier manufacturing design. The group has opened a 1.5 million pounds sterling Centre of Excellence for design where the new appliances of the future will be created. GDA's ideal graduate engineering recruit is one with several years of industry experience who also has some microprocessor hardware and software application expertise.

Art of noise: A new acoustic fatigue research facility is about to really turn up the volume on structures
Article Abstract:
An advanced acoustic fatigue test facility will come on stream in November at British Aerospace's Military Aircraft and Aerostructures complex at Warton. The facility is to test structures for new vertical take-off jets under sound and heat extremes. It is likely to play an important role in the development of Joint Strike Fighters (JSF). The building was designed by Parkman and built by Ballast Wiltshier, and it incorporates an office and control room.
