Knowledge orientations and team effectiveness

Article Abstract:

An empirical study on knowledge operations and team effectiveness reveals that any attempt to systematize knowledge may reduce learning potential as there may be an inverse relationship between organization and learning. As in the case of engineers in the aerospace industry, learned information is through trial and error and networks facilitate the transfer of knowledge. Codifying knowledge may produce gains as well as losses so it is recommended that changes are gradual and small.

Organizing for innovation: parallel processing as a design principle for field-related interfirm networks

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the role of parallel processing in organizing the expansion and deployment of complex knowledge reveals that other systems may fall short in achieving the goals that parallel processing offers for allied firms. Moreover, parallel processing is seen as an operational strategy employed within firms and in interfirm systems as the system is the preferred architecture for managing complex, field-related knowledge.
