Siting of paper mills: is a pristine environment an industrial resource?

Article Abstract:

Norwegian researchers examined the resource use, environmental effects, and emissions of eight paper mills in Norway. The study was conducted to evaluate the criteria in situating industrial plants that would do the least damage to the environment.

Decomposition of beta-alaninediacetic acid and diethylenetriamine-pentaacetic acid by hydrogen peroxide in alkaline conditions

Article Abstract:

The study of the chemical decomposition of beta-alaninediacetic acid (ADA) and diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) indicates that ADA is more degradable by chemical oxidation than conventionally applied DTPA in alkaline hydrogen peroxide bleaching environments, such as used in the pulp and paper industry.
