Legislation enacted to reauthorize CALFED program

Article Abstract:

The legislation, Water supply, Reliability, and Environmental Improvement Act, signed by US President George W. Bush reauthorizes the federal government's participation through 2010 in one of the nation's largest efforts to manage water supplies and restoring the environment called CALFED. The program, CALFED, is intended to provide a long-term solution to problems pertaining to the quantity and quality of water in California.

Tunnel fire prompts rapid response from Caltrans

Article Abstract:

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) worked to restore traffic to nearby lanes of Interstate 5 after a traffic accident in a concrete tunnel caused the death of three people and damaged the tunnel. Caltrans undertook an assessment of the tunnel's condition and has awarded a contract to repair the tunnel on October 29, 2007.

The details of an online map, , which is to show the probability of aftershock occurring anywhere in California, within twenty-four hours, are presented. The United States Geological Survey (UGS), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the Southern California Earthquake Center have developed it.
