Engineers and biologists create model to improve salmon habitat

Article Abstract:

The Atlantic salmon has been listed as an endangered species in Canada. In the recent years, the number of salmon returning to the Restigouche River has reduced. For the purpose of preventing this decline, engineers and biologists from the Canadian Rivers Institute, part of the University of New Brunswick, together with J.D. Irving, Ltd, a forestry company, are on a restoration project. This project involves constructing 0.5 m diameter boulders to three sites along the Little Main Restigouche River.
