Levee break highlights threat to California's delivery system

Article Abstract:

Delta shared by California's Sacramento and San Joaquin serves a home to vast tracts of rich agricultural land lying at the hub of the state's massive system for delivering water from northern California to points south and serves as a source of drinking water for 22 million California residents, maintaining water quality within the region is a paramount importance is presented. The efforts necessitated by the levee break to CaliforniaEs system are highlighted.

California drainage project to rely on local disposal

This article discusses a new approach for the drainage of agricultural lands in California. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's alternative plan disposes the runoff in evaporation ponds constructed locally.
