Malware goes mobile

Article Abstract:

Computer viruses have started infecting mobile phones in every part of the world and security companies, cellular operators and phone makers are trying their level best to prevent these threats before they spiral out of control. The sales of smartphones are increasing and this has set the stage for the massive spread of malware, among them worms, Trojan horses, other viruses and spyware are unleashed against the devices.

Protecting more than animals

Article Abstract:

Safety testing of household, agricultural and other chemicals as well as medical products traditionally uses many millions of animals every year in protocols that are often painful. New methods involving cell and tissue cultures, non invasive imaging or plain statistics are greatly reducing the need for, and the suffering involved in animal testing.

Fixing the vote

Article Abstract:

Direct record electronic (DRE) voting machines will not necessarily solve problems in the vote counting process. Accidental and deliberate abuse and misuse of DRE equipment are all too easy and thorough testing of the machines and procedures is essential.
